Greta Bridge

Greta Bridge is a small village that once sat on the main road across the Pennines between Penrith and Scotch Corner. This road is now the very busy A 66, which now thankfully passes just to the north of the village (although the old line of the main road can still be seen on the map). The River Greta flows north through the village, under the A 66 and between Rokeby Park and Mortham Tower before flowing into the River Tees at the evocatively named and rather attractive Meeting of the Waters.
