A view of the western slopes of Crinkle Crags, and of Swinsty Gill, the key to the best way up the fell from this direction. Swinsty Gill runs in the dark ravine seen to the right-centre of the picture. The route up uses the grassy slope to the right of the gill, heading towards the left-hand edge of the crag on the right skyline (this is Ray Crag). After reaching the skyline between the crag and the top of the gill, the path cuts diagonally left across Adam-a-Cove (not see from here), heading towards the summit of the fell, which here forms the right hand side of the sky line.
