Ballindalloch Castle, in the Spey Valley, has been the home of the Macpherson-Grants since 1546. The castle sits on the south side of the Spey and the east side of the Avon (which rises in Glen Avon in the heart of the Cairngorms and flows past Tomintoul and close to Glenlivet on its way to the Spey). The castle gardens sit between the two rivers, and include a large rock garden.
