Calanais is a small village on the west coast of Lewis, sitting between Loch Rog An Ear/ Loch Roag in the north and Loch Smuaisebhal in the south.
The village is surrounded by pre-historical monuments, including the Calanais Stones. This is a stone circle with thirteen stones in the circle, a single large 4.8m tall stone at its centre and lines of stones pointing east, west and south.
