The Lake District is my favourite part of Britain. The rugged grandeur of the mountains contrasts with the gentle prosperity of the larger towns and the tranquility of the lakes to produce a landscape unequalled in England.
We start our coverage of the Lake District with a look at the Lakes themselves, including a map showing the location of the main lakes. We now have more detailed clickable maps of the Lake District
Our first walk in the lakes takes us up the Langdale Pikes from Great Langdale
Our second walk takes us around Buttermere and up Haystacks
Our third walk explores the northern part of the Whinlatter Forest Park
We now have twenty one walks in the Lake District, accessible from our clickable map
