Water Yeat

The hamlet of Water Yeat is located half a mile south of Coniston Water, just above the Crake valley. The village once had two mills, a water mill powered by Beacon Beck and a corn mill that was converted into a school and a shoemakers in 1753 before being turned into three houses. The village also once had a pillbox mill, but this was a short-lived venture, only lasting from 1852-70.
